Skeena river Ostrich Spey Feathers are extra long, ostrich feathers ideal leggy intruders, various spey flies and saltwater shrimp patterns. The feathers are processed to mimic Rhea. The fluff found on traditional ostrich herl or plumes is removed (the feathers are de-barbed). This process burns the feathers, but they remain flexible and mobile. For best results wet the feathers when tying them in. The feathers remain strong throughout the de-barbing process. Their extra long length is hard to come by. They help create excellent single station swung flies or large two station intruder style flies. The feathers are packaged and processed in Smithers, BC.
