The Foundation is a fast action rod built on a high-performance graphite IIIe blank.

High performing fly rods should be versatile in their application. They should, when called upon, be able to effectively cater to both the angler and the fishÕs needs.

The Fast-Action Foundation has the ability to go sub-surface with heavy nymphs and indicators when necessary, as well as turn over large dry flies with droppers when the golden stones or grasshoppers are fluttering about. There is also a lot of feel to this rod, which means it fishes equally well when small caddis and mayflies are needed to be delicately presented to willing trout. To put it bluntly, this rod feels like a Sage. It fishes like the modern, fast action rods we have come to love for the past few decades. The Foundation Fly Rod is outfitted with ceramic stipper guides, hard chrome snake guides, and a black-anodized aluminum locking reel seat. The handle is a snub nose cork handle with a fighting butt on the saltwater weights. The stealth black color of the blank is sleek and a rugged black nylon rod tube keeps the Foundation protected in between fishing trips.

The Sage Foundation is available in rod weights 4-8 at 9 feet. You can purchase the Sage Foundation Fly Rod as an individual rod or in a complete outfit. In both options, a rod tube is included. The complete outfit includes: Sage Foundation Rod, Sage Spectrum C Reel in Black/Platinum coloration, a RIO Gold Fly Line, tapered leader, and backing.
