We were simply blown away when our first Nautilus GTS reel came to the shop. This reel is something else. The Nautilus GTS is available in two sizes GTS 5/6 and GTS 7/8. The GTS has a revolutionary drag adjustment. The first full turn of the drag knob gives you 90% of the usable drag for light tippet dry fly or nymph fishing. The second turn is for when using heavier tippets for streamers, bonefish and baby tarpon. Turn the drag knob beyond two full turns and you are looking to release your fish at distance by breaking the tippet.. The GTS surpasses the very popular Nautilus NV reels with significant enhancements. GTS reels are light in weight, easy to change right to left hand reel, have an expanded drag range, and a sleeker design.

The GTS spool release cap has 1" or 24mm hex shape, the same as your car's lug nuts so it it ever gets stuck you can remove it with a standard socket! Wow we could have used that feature on a ton of reels, nice going! External backing markers, spools featuring two crossbars to indicate the optimal backing fill level for your line weight. GTS reels are not just great looking, fantastic performing reels for a huge range of fishing situations, they feel light and solid at the same time. This reel is special, truly something unique in the fly fishing world that you will want to own. Each reel includes a hooker feature positioned on the handle side of the reel to hold your fly or tippet in place for storage.

We had a chance to fish a GTS 7/8 this November in the Bahamas. The reel was awesome for bones! The GTS 7/8 had no trouble stopping fish, had a super smooth start of and makes your 8wt bonefish incredibly light. Bottom line on the GTS reel from Nautilus is, "this reel is an absolute home run". Nautilus doesn't come out with a new reel every season. Go back to the Classic FWX, N/V, CCFX all of these models stand the test of time and function. The GTS is another winner, grab one today.
