Hareline Large Northern Bucktail
Great For Tying Streamers! Great Colors And Quality!
Really? No one uses bucktail in this new-age fly world, do they. Well, yes. We do. Bucktail Intruders are great flies and this material is well worth considering. Most commonly, a wad of bucktail will be spun around a hook, Waddington, or tube in order to achieve two things. First, to make a not-very-buoyant profile of nice long hairs to bulk up the fly; and second, to make a bushy hump that will cause the materials wound in front of the hump stand out from the hook. Hareline bucktails are large and available in a broad range of vivid colors. We find that we usually select hair from the upper 1/3 of these tails for out intruders and save the lower 2/3 for our clousers and baitfish patterns. Hair from the upper portion of the tail will be a little more hollow at the base and will spin better than hair from the lower portion of the tail. Simple, always available. Stock up. Give these a try.
